Water Avenue Coffee Opens Today

Water Avenue Coffee opened bright and early this morning to a steady stream of caffeine-craving folk bearing welcomes and well wishes. Located in the old Q Center space on SE Water Avenue, the coffeehouse is just around the corner from the much-mourned Southeast Bakery Bar outpost, in which WAC set up service temporarily during the buildout of their bright and shiny new coffeehouse/roastery.

The new space is SE Waterfront-austere, but the glowing blue neon Coffee sign behind the counter and platters of Crema pastries warm things up. WAC serves up a variety of coffee drinks and NW Portland’s Steven Smith teas, and if you like your coffee beans in bar form, they’ve got Sahagun Chocolate’s marvelous KA-POW bars. If a Crema scone or croissant feels too decadent, you can nibble on Olympic Granola bars, a gluten-free Apple Pie LÄRABAR, or spelt toast with butter and jam. A lunch menu is forthcoming, as are educational coffee cuppings and Saturday hours. Currently, the shop is open Mon-Fri from 8:30 am to 5 pm.
