Next weekend, the Oregon Brewers Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary (the Silver Anniversary, in Hallmark-speak), but instead of getting itself a pewter Homer Simpson Bottle Opener and calling it a day, it’s throwing you and yours a huge brewhaha at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
From July 26-29, over 80 craft breweries from across the country will be pouring for upwards of 80,000 grateful guzzlers, and as though that weren’t exciting enough, there will be a Buzz Tent filled with rare, expensive and highly-prized beers, something so thrilling it warrants its own Twitter account, @OBFBuzzTent.
Entrance to the event is free, and should you wish to taste (I’m assuming this is what they call ‘a given’), you’ll need to acquire a souvenir mug for $6, and wooden tokens at $1 a pop (4 tokens = a whole 14oz beer). See the tasting list here>>
Thanks to the generosity of the Oregon Brewers Fest, two lucky Under The Table readers get to win a $50 Tasting Package—which includes two commemorative tasting mugs and 38 (YES, 38!) tasting tokens. For a chance at winning one of these packages, just head over to the UTTWJ Facebook page and tell everyone your Oregon Brewers Fest dream beer, that one particularly remarkable brew you’ll be making a beeline for first. Don’t panic, yes, it’s a tough decision, but you’ve got a few days–I’ll pick the two winners on Monday, 7/23, around noon.
I know what you are all thinking—this is SUCH a better gift than that lame pewter Homer Simpson Bottle Opener I got for my 25th wedding anniversary! And you are so right.
