Evoe
Billing itself as an “enlightened snack bar,” this tiny annex of Pastaworks is a wine and food lovers dream. The chalkboard menu lists a pleasurably inventive selection of small plates, soups, salads, cheese, charcuterie, and gourmet sandwiches. Warm plates are miraculously crafted by Chef Kevin Gibson on a single electric stovetop and griddle, from ingredients raided from Pastaworks (the specialty grocery store next door). If only we all had such a pantry to pull from.
Billing itself as an “enlightened snack bar,” this tiny annex of Pastaworks is a wine and food lovers dream.
Feast on Speck, Asiago & Salame or Roasted Pepper & Manchego sandwiches, gorgeous meat and cheese plates, “snacks” such as the quince & merguez toasts and oh-so-good deviled eggs, and dishes like the artichoke, fennel, and guanciale salad and divine seared scallops. Small plates are substantial—you can easily eat your entire dinner here (Evoe closes at 7pm along with adjoining Pastaworks, and they’ll only let you order up until 6:30pm, so make it an early dinner).
The wine and beer menu is as simple and exquisite as the food, but if you’re craving something you don’t see up there, just head next door to Pastaworks and fetch any bottle that catches your eye, the corkage fee is a wee $5.
