Pop-up dessert club Morgan St. Theater partners with Edible Portland and local goat milk and cheese artisans for two nights of ice cream exploration

 PORTLAND, Ore. – April 28, 2014 – For two nights in May, Morgan St. Theater is partnering with Edible Portland to celebrate their spring Milk Issue by hosting pop-up ice cream events. Drawing inspiration from a classic Jewish folk song, Chad Gadya – One Little Goat – this menu brings the goat to the foreground, playing with the possibilities of goat milk ice cream, from life on the farm to the flavors of Morocco to a playful twist on the cheese course. Each 24-seat performance at din din Supper Club will include a flight of three goat milk ice cream sundaes, live music, storytelling, and optional wine pairings from Pairings Portland Wine Shop.

Morgan St. Theater is a pop-up dessert club specializing in ice cream and its infinite possibilities. Monthly menus are inspired by a creative theme and seasonal flavors and served up with stories. Jared Goodman, Morgan St. Theater’s creator, is a self-taught ice cream aficionado who makes all the desserts from scratch, sourcing from local farmers whenever possible. “I want to revolutionize the ice cream sundae,” he says. “Let’s make it smaller, less of a sugar bomb, and bring the focus to contrasting flavors and textures.”

Farm Life: Hay ice cream, fresh strawberries, mint oil, and challah croutons

Marrakesh: Toasted sesame seed ice cream, ras el hanout-spiced cookies, honey sauce

Goat on Goat on Goat: Goat cheese ice cream, cajeta, and hazelnut nest

The May flights will feature ingredients sourced from Terra Farma, a local pasture-raised livestock farm, and Portland Creamery, which makes some of the best chèvre around, as well as local artisans and farmers Bee Local, Viridian Farms, and Freddy Guys Hazelnuts. Farmers Mike and Linda Guebert of Terra Farma will attend on Thursday night to share their story with guests.
