Friday Night Reds at Square Deal

squaredeallogoFrom Square Deal’s newsletter:

We find ourselves tomorrow with a suddenly open evening. What to do? How about an impromptu tasting of wines from the classic 2007 vintage in the southern Rhone? This category is rocking and rolling with a number of great examples in the store right now. We’ll taste old-vine Vacqueyras from Le Colombier, concentrated Cairanne from Amadieu, a sleeper called Le Claux from Roche Buisiere, and a stunning Gigondas from Piaugier. I hate being part of the hype but everything you read on the internet and geeky wine blogs is true—the 2007 vintage in this part of the wine world was remarkable. Check it out for yourself. (By the way, these are all wines between $19-$30!)

A nominal tasting fee of $10, which also includes some nibbles from the cheese counter, but any $50 or greater purchase of wine will waive the fee. Tasting runs from 5-7PM.
