The Popular Portland vs. Seattle Competition Returns to Mt. Hood with Joshua McFadden of Ava Gene’s and Shane Ryan of Matt’s in the Market for Annual Showdown
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Nicky USA is excited to announce that this year’s annual culinary competition, Nicky USA’s Wild About Game, will take place once again at the historic and picturesque Timberline Lodge, in Timberline, Oregon on September 7, 2014. Nicky USA products are featured in some of the region’s best dishes and restaurants, and the Pacific Northwest’s favorite specialty meat purveyor hosts the event to thank the farmers, artisans and chefs who use and love their high quality products. 
In a battle of the best between the region’s two favorite cities, four chefs from Portland and four chefs from Seattle compete against one another in four different meat-based categories. Each dish is presented to a panel of regional food experts and attendees for judging.
Other events at Nicky USA’s Wild About Game include the Artisan Marketplace, featuring the region’s favorite artisan products using Nicky Farms and other artisan purveyors’ meats. Attendees can taste the meats and other products in the marketplace, including artisan salts, cheeses, ice cream, spirits, wine and beer. The event as a whole is a great way for attendees to ask questions and connect to artisans and chefs alike.

One chef wins each category for their respective city, with one chef taking home the ultimate Nicky USA’s Wild About Game title. Past winners of the event include Gabe Rucker of Le Pigeon and Greg Denton of Ox. In 2013, Aaron Barnett of St. Jack presented the judge’s favorite dish with his Stuffed Guinea Hen Leg with glazed carrot, fermented plum, liver and pretty greens.
