Oregon’s Penner-Ash Wine Cellars Produces Concert Series

Kick off summer at Penner-Ash Wine Cellar with concerts by The Silent Comedy and Allen Stone.

pennerashNewberg, Ore. (March 26, 2012) Kick-off a memorable summer with a glass of Oregon Pinot and views of the pastoral Chehalem Valley at Penner-Ash Wine Cellar’s first-ever acoustic music series. The winery doors open at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 4th, and indy folk-rock sensation The Silent Comedy take the stage at 8 p.m. on the winery’s 2nd-level fermentation deck.

“I’m convinced music and wine are similar in they both can provide an unforgettable experience that transcends the moment. We can all remember that special song, and for many of us, that exceptional bottle of wine, that created a lasting impression. Our intent with the music series is to create an intimate setting within our cellars to enjoy food, wine and original acoustic sets by rising talent,” explains Ron Penner-Ash, the winery’s co-owner.

Tickets are available through the winery at the Penner-Ash Online Store for $40 each, and are limited to 4 per person. Delicious fare including pulled pork sandwiches, salads from locally sourced mixed greens catered by Feastworks, and of course, libation by the glass from the Penner-Ash Wine Cellars will be available to purchase. All events in the series are open to just those ages 21 and over.

Return to the scenic winery June 8th at 6 p.m. for the second installment of the concert series: an intimate acoustic show with folk/soul sensation Allen Stone as he prepares for his fall tour with The Dave Matthews Band. For additional information on this show, please visit

The Silent Comedy

What started gaining momentum in 2006 as a loose collection of musicians, eventually evolved into a solid quintet of performers who turn heads for their wild live performance, genre-bending sound, and unique aesthetic. In the past year, The Silent Comedy has held sold-out shows around California, and have shared the bill with such diverse performers as Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Cold War Kids, Flogging Molly, The Whigs, Common and The Black Keys.

Allen Stone

Integrating classic soul, catchy pop hooks, R&B beats and folk roots with lyrical matters of testimonial broken relationships, poisonous politics and the age-old topic of simple, pure celebration. Stone’s music is notable for his finely crafted evocative songs and a fresh, smooth, soul-filled voice-one that certainly belies his 24 years of age.

Penner-Ash Wine Cellar

After early success making Pinot Noir and Syrah, Lynn and Ron Penner-Ash founded the Penner-Ash brand in 1998. The Penner-Ash winery, completed in 2005, is nestled into a hillside overlooking the Chehalem Valley in Oregon’s wine country. The building seems to spring from the land itself and reflects the values, spirit and winemaking philosophy of the Penner-Ash brand.
